This DC program involves residents in keeping the capital clean.  The Initiative focuses on everything involving cleanliness, including unsightly properties, litter, abandoned vehicles and illegal posters.
 
DC Department of Parks and Recreation

Offers programs and services for children, teenagers, senior citizens, mentally and physically challenged individuals, and at-risk youth.   

 

National Arboretum

Serves as a living museum where trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants are cultivated for scientific and educational purposes. 
 

National Mall

Protects and enhances the natural, scenic, recreational, and historical qualities of the Potomac River and its watershed lands. 
 

Provides a place to play soccer, tennis, picnic, hike, bike, in-line skate, fish, horseback ride, listen to a concert, or attend programs hosted by park rangers.
