The Department of Public Works removes dead animals from public spaces.
 
The Washington Humane Society provides animal control services for DC.  Report dangerous or stray animals to the Humane Society.
 
Dog owners must show proof that their pets have had rabies and distemper shots and must renew their dog’s license each year. To fill out an application online, visit the Department of Health.
 
The Department of Health provides information on rabies prevention, symptoms, and what to do if you or your pet are exposed to rabies.

Rodent Control
The Department of Health's Rodent Control Division provides enforcement at food establishments, baits rodents on public and private property, and offers tips for rodent control.
